Artifacts
Thousands of artifacts have been discovered at America's Stonehenge. These artifacts represent the many layers of history at this site, ranging from pieces that are truly ancient to others which are part of more recent deposits. This digital archive is not complete, but offers highlights from the museum's collection as well as recent discoveries. Artifacts will continue to be added, with the hope that the museum's complete collections will be available in a digital format.
Ancient Artifacts
Prehistoric artifacts have been found across the landscape, but are especially concentrated in living and working sites found at America's Stonehenge. Many of these artifacts were found in the vicinity of cooking fires and other evidence of long-term habitation. Most of these pieces have been dated to the Woodland Period, though some may be older.
Historic Artifacts
Historic artifacts have also been found across the property, but with the highest concentrations around the Pattee Family's homesite and within historic middens. These pieces are predominantly from the early 19th century when the Pattee Family lived on the property, though some may be from earlier colonial activity on the land or later recreational use during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
